Pati, August 9, 2023 – Community Service Program (KKN) students from Diponegoro University in Tayukulon Village collaborated with Tayu 2 Community Health Center in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of proper handwashing. In an innovative step that combines health education with technological advancement, Johnsen Hezron Gelora Kasih, a Public Administration student from PSDKU K. Rembang, has successfully developed a more modern patient queue facility at Tayu 2 Community Health Center. The collaboration between students and the health center has yielded tangible results in the form of educational videos and handwashing posters aimed at enhancing public understanding and awareness of health and hygiene.
The development process began on July 6, 2023, with students conducting an in-depth survey at Tayu 2 Community Health Center to identify the needs and challenges of the existing patient queue system. After analyzing the survey results, the student team and the health center agreed to create an educational video about Patient Rights and Responsibilities as the main focus of their interdisciplinary work program.
The culmination of this program occurred on August 9, 2023, when – Community Service Program (KKN) students symbolically handed over the educational video to the Head of Tayu 2 Community Health Center and its officials. The event was attended by all KKN students from Tayukulon Village as well as doctors from the health center. This initiative aims to support the patient queue facilities at Tayu 2 Community Health Center and address the lack of proper handwashing education content on the television located in the patient waiting area. Thus, patients of Tayu 2 Community Health Center can watch the TV containing tutorial videos with practical and precise steps for handwashing while waiting for healthcare services. Informative posters also provide a guide to the 6 steps of proper handwashing and the 5 moments of handwashing. These posters are placed near the health center’s sinks, making it easier for patients and visitors to understand and follow the steps. It is hoped that this will have a positive influence on community behaviour in maintaining hand hygiene, especially within the health center environment.
“We are delighted to contribute to addressing the problems faced by Tayu 2 Community Health Center. Proper handwashing education is a simple yet crucial initial step in maintaining health. We hope that these tutorial videos and posters will have a positive impact on the people who visit the health center,” said the Head of the Tayukulon Village KKN Team.
Tayu 2 Community Health Center also highly appreciates this collaboration. Imbang Tri Hanekowati, S.K.M., Head of Tayu 2 Community Health Center, expressed, “We greatly appreciate the initiative of Undip’s KKN students from Tayukulon Village in helping fulfil the educational needs in our facility. With tutorial videos and posters, we are confident that patients and visitors will become more aware of the importance of proper handwashing.”
This educational campaign is expected to be an initial step that brings positive impacts to public health. The collaboration between KKN students and Tayu 2 Community Health Center demonstrates a shared spirit in enhancing community well-being through effective educational approaches.
